Currently they have a school topic supervised by the health post in our town. In addition, they develop health promotion through talks and educational workshops.

In relation to quality of life, they are concerned with developing entrepreneurial skills such as financial education, business plans, among others. Likewise, they do not neglect the intercultural approach through dances as a tool for social change.

DIVERSIFIED USE OF COMMUNICATION CANAELS FOR PARTICIPATION

They are convinced that the proper management of the communication process is necessary in the educational community to carry information and encourage participation. The work teams designate a person in charge of the annual communication of the activities, through murals, social networks, school radio, letters, communications, among others. Decision making is informed in our participatory school model.

THE COLLECTIVE PARTICIPATION

The institution promotes the participation of each of the members of its community such as teachers, parents, administrative staff and, of course, students. To achieve genuine participation in the school environment, it is necessary to reform teaching practices and management policies, modifying the structure, organization and role of students in the school and democratizing their activities. Thus, they manage to take an active role in their own educational process. Students have their Enciniano Student Council, whose representatives are part of the main decisions at the school level.

Parents are organized in the Association of Parents. They elect their representatives every two school years. They also have a Classroom Committee in each of the school sections. These representatives collaborate with the teacher supporting her in the learning needs of the students, and attend meetings with their teachers to receive support in how they should guide their children at home. Parents also attend and participate in the Parenting School.

Within their activities, they establish alliances with public and private organizations, through Work Tables. The school establishes a multi-sectoral Work Plan and activities for the year are coordinated. The institutions with which they maintain ties are: National Pedagogical Institute of Monterrico, Manuela Ramos, Manuel Barreto Health Center, PUCP, GIZ, the University of Utah, among others.

Meet Frena la curva

Frena la Curva is a platform that supports social initiatives, and one of the causes they support is that of IE Jose Antonio Encinas de San Juan de Miraflores. They are an exemplary IE for their pedagogical proposal for the promotion of health and peace. Its Director Ana Bertha Quiroz has received Palmas Magisteriales for the great work she does. Despite the poverty and violence that surrounds the school, it plays a role of resilience, entrepreneurship, citizenship and empathy with the aim that students are inserted into society as agents of change. They are located in the Nuevo Horizonte Sector in Pamplona Alta of the San Juan de Miraflores district. There are 1500 schoolchildren who need donations of shelter, food and cell phones or laptops to continue studying.

The transformation the school is based on:

AN ORGANIZED, TRANSFORMING AND PARTICIPATORY MANAGEMENT MODEL

Through the Institutional Educational Council (CONEI) that is made up of the entire educational community (teachers, students, parents, administrators, etc.) they lead and manage the proposal to be a Health Promoting School (EPS). They carry out diagnoses and sensitize the community with the results found. They identify problems, plan, monitor and evaluate health activities.

CONTEXTUALIZED EDUCATION, FOCUSED ON HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE

From the diagnosis made, they observe physical, emotional and social health problems. To develop activities related to mitigating these problems, they form teams of teachers organized by grade and curricular area (each organizational unit has a coordinator for a space of one school year and is rotating as everyone must learn). The teams carry out collegial work where they analyze and reflect on the National Curriculum, and begin the process of curricular diversification, taking into account cross-cutting approaches. The school counts with a Transversal Approach to Health Education and Quality of Life .

Its diversified, contextualized curriculum proposal with curricular adaptations becomes the necessary management instrument to give sustainability to the content they require to change the habits and behaviors of the school population.
